Case Study - Red Cross Campaign Analysis and Wealth Screening

Several hundred names were identified of people likely to have capacity to give at higher levels than their donation history had indicated. These donors can now be moved to a higher level of direct marketing communication, or moved into a more personal major gift approach. Read more

Case Study – Prediction Attrition

The propensity model had a 60% success rate in the top 1% ranked as about to close their account. The bank now has a process to identify customers who are about to close their account, weigh up the amount of marketing spend that should be applied to retain the customer – and all with enough time to intervene to convince the customer not to close the account. Case Study - Segmenting Credit Card Customers

The bank now has an understanding of the profile of its credit card portfolio, the effect that different marketing campaigns have on the behaviour of customers using their cards and the resulting profitability. The bank is now equipped with many innovative targeted marketing opportunities that can be executed. The GFC is supposed to be over - but no-one told the Australian consumer. After a brief resurgence in the middle of 2010, consumer confidence level continually dropped to a low of 104.5 in January 2011 and then rose slightly to 106.6 in February 2011. David Jones just announced a 1.1% quarterly reduction in sales. Discount sales abound - but still don’t seem to be invigorating any sales. Click here to read the newsletter.

This issue features an article on metadata in the real world. It covers news from a range of events. A grim statistic presented at the Financial Back Office conference, which BusinessMinds chaired, was that the New York Stock Exchange Dow Jones Index dropped 89% during the Great Depression and could do the same again. At the TDWI meeting we heard about Westpac’s GDW storage solution which reduced cost and increased storage by 16% and 46% respectively.
